So we are rapidly approaching “THE DAY”-NO not my birthday although yes that is Thursday-it seems like it takes FOREVER for my birth month to arrive but when it does-its all fast forward!
I am talking about Baby Jesus’ birthday-the reason for the season –it’s so crazy to me how the Christmas image you have as a child and how you are out of school for many days and the staying up late and sleeping in..very quickly comes to an abrupt halt as an adult…they don’t tell you that before you graduate college..I feel like there should be a special class that prepares you for some realisms of the world of grown up ness!
Ok YES you can stay up late and do what the hell you want BUT if you have a job…it’s gonna SUCK working on 0 hours of sleep and you can’t call in EVERY Monday
YES-you can go drink BUT hangovers at work with annoying coworkers-NOT a fun day
You will make more money YES ….BUT you will also have MORE bills and responsibilities
So yes you will have vacation time BUT it is not the same as FREE time when you are in school
As an adult THERE IS NO SUMMER VACATION-summer vacay becomes defined as the time when you take more than one day off on top of a long weekend
You also start to REALLY think about and debate the hours you do take off from work
YES you can have all the company you want BUT you have to clean it up
YES you can date whoever you want BUT you will date some crazies and losers and people with habits and weird idiosyncrasies that are HORRID
Back to 12/25-Christmas yes you can buy better gifts and do cool things BUT when you are an adult and with the exception of teachers who fall exempt to most of these rules…you work up until like Christmas Eve (NEVER knew that as a kid) I ASSUMED everyone was off-and you have to take your ass back in BEFORE New Year’s
Being an adult can make holidays sweeter YET zap all the magic at the same time
