stop the madness

while listening to my podcast-i just learned that in Saudi Arabia a man can divorce his woman by saying "I divorce you" 3 times!
apparently THAT is legal there and apparently they had the first "text message" divorce

ok that is CRAZY!

if that was the way of life in America can you imagine the mayhem -then again financially it would save A LOT of money, BUT it would diminish the bond and sanctity of marriage

marriage marriage-hmmmm-nah i wont go there today

ok the topic of my podcast is seasonal dating-hmmm a few comments-grow up-that sucks-dating sucks-so glad that i am in a serious committed relationship and not in some shaky relationship-SUCH STRESS

ok but a few public service announcements because we are approaching the warm weather season

  • NO muffin tops-i am guilty of gaining some winter weight BUT i am working on it now-i would suggest you pass it along to everyone you know and care about or commit to flowly fabrics that are forgiving
  • when in doubt-wear black-its slimming and forgiving-EXCEPT when in the spandex form when the white elastic is visible
  • SPANX are amazing and a great investment
  • i dont care if i make it back to a size 1/2 let me just say JUST because you can fit it-the second question one should ask themself IS- "is this AGE appropriate"?
  • shoot now i cant get the bold off
  • classy not trashy
  • when in doubt put it back in the closet
  • lotion-lotion-lotion
  • and if you're feeling sexy-palmers body oil, baby oil gel, or my classic sephora spray body oil (might i add-it smells heavenly) and makes the skin glow
  • oh oh pedicures! and since the economy is crap-either do it yourself OR keep them nude and lotion those heels
  • stay away from the pedi egg-its nothing but a metal cheese grater and it will create a river of blood in the shower (oops sorry that hit close to home)
  • maxi dresses and sun dresses are GREAT!
  • exfoliate your skin- a great one is the neutrogena scrub
  • have fun-smile often
  • oh oh SUNSCREEN-i dont care how much pigment is in your skin EVERYONE do yourself a favor buy some! the spray kind is super cool
ok enjoy-pass it along and if i forgot anything let me know

the rain has subsided

ok it is still dreary outside but i feel amazing and so for me-the storm has passed and things are just really sunny for me

yesterday i was able to successfully and in under 25 minutes obtain a new DL and temp tags for my car-so i am legal again and no longer on house arrest

tomorrow is my best friend's bday-yea Kel's-but man each year as she has her birthday it is a very loud reminder of my upcoming one in a few months-i usually delight in EVERYONE else getting older-but can i just say i have a serious pigmently challenged hair on my hairline AND a few stragglers in places that i was not aware would turn gray :( *sad so sad*

so my point was that-yes i am young BUT in my mind i still feel like i did when i was a teenager and hell at the time 20 seemed old and now the closer i get to 30-i think wow-its not really old and the life experiences at each stage are so different and i am glad that even though i may have tried to rush certain things-i am glad that they are coming in due time because i have a different view of the world and of life now.
but as Kel's is turning 28 tomorrow-its a reminder that I too will be 28 this year-seriously where does the time go? wasn't i JUST 17-and yes i thought i couldn't wait to be "an adult" but wow

i am not afraid of turning 28 or even 30-it just seems so surreal and it seems so real when someone else turns 30 or 40 because i still feel like i did in high school except the 30 additional pounds i have put on since then-
and for anyone who just sucked their teeth-it's TRUE
when i was in high school i weighed around 118pounds-even as a senior and now yes i am somewhere in the 140's and who cares if everyone thinks it looks ok-i liked how i used to look, i liked my "non womanly body" as my Mom puts it

anywho i digress

i go home on Friday-home on Friday-Friday-Friday!!! yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

holiday

in honor of cinco de mayo-i have changed my name for today

all please address me as "Marta"-not Martha but Marta!!!

I will only answer to such-
hmmm do I need a last name too......ok i won't go there but the first name sticks!

just exhale

so i had to wait a bit before i started to write anything today

i had a horrendous experience with the Virginia DMV yesterday-end result-my tags are still expired which means I can't drive my car

i am trying to think positively and project good thoughts because otherwise-I'd allow my temper compliments of my Dad and my sharp compliments of my lovely Mom to truly get the best of me
and i don't want to go there

i must say i resisted going across BOTH counters at BOTH DMV locations that I visited yesterday-I did not do any swearing NOR did I make a scene

so today is a new day-i'd like to think yesterday was yesterday and while my tags are dead i don't want to bring that anger into today-but i will say i was angry enough to shed a few tears before i drove home in utter defeat

but today i brushed myself off and i am on my contingency plan, because if i have not learned one thing from living hundreds of miles away from my family and going through a divorce and other potentially challenging experiences is that-sitting with my head tucked and crying may feel good for about half a second but no one is going to come to my rescue like when i was a child, i have to come up with my own solutions and make them happen, my parents cant save me like when i was little so i have to keep pressing onward and stand on my own two feet and hold my head up in the process..

sooo stay tuned for more....

may 5th

i dont have a ton to say right now
i will be out of work at noon today-yes folks i did say noon-dont ask me what time i got here-ask HIM!!

so i have two educational points to share to enrich everyone's minds
the info comes from my Word Origin Calendar via Santa Ellen!!!

"moot"-derives from if you committed a crime in anglo-saxon times, you would be taken to a gemot, a court of law where the fact of that crime would be established and the trial referred to another kind of court. a "moot court", therefore, was all talk and no action, which gives us the modern sense of something that is theoretical or not open to further discussion, as in a "moot point".

dont say i never put smart things in my blog
ummm what else.....ok not feeling super gregarious today-for now

Eve strikes again!!

So i have a whole new understanding of how the whole garden of Eden situation went down.

i will put it in today's context however

so today at my desk amidst my dreams of squirty cheese and other yummies-i spoke of my favorite AJ's concoction at Coldstone creamery.
soooo
after work-"the man" made me take the car in to get the oil change-which YES i would have eventually gotten around to before the engine fell out I PROMISE-so on our way I happened to put into my handy dandy Nav system the nearby Coldstone location-now do you think R gave ANY opposition nor did he say "no! no! I don't want any-it looks good but no thanks"! instead Adam opened his mouth and then eventually snatched the whole double scoop cup and helped himself-strike one for getting voted out of Eden, THEN
we were going to go to Hooters after the car appointment BUT since we were near Jbear's favorite spot -Chik-Fil-A-I said R-"let's just stop in"! so we did-strike 2 for ADAM-and there was not a strike 3-we were both out the garden
so we indulged in 2 incredibly delicious yummy treats back to back

NOW-on the way home as i am fading in and out of my food induced coma-all I could think was YUP-if Man STILL hasn't learned after all these years-they never will

BUT as a woman-I am smarter and stronger and always able to survive so despite wanting to come home and completely veg out-i put on my spandex shorts, my new watch from R Santa Claus, and the princess pod and we went out running

I couldnt have Adam feeling bad about the day of calorie indulgence!!!

So to being banished Eve (I) salvaged the day and even though there was no breaking back into the garden-I'm sure Eve somehow made it up and probably even got Adam a hot outfit to walk around in now that he was aware of his NAKEY-Ness!!!

i'm out!!!

friday

so i am trying to make my friday blog SUPER exciting

well its one of my favorite days of the week-i can stay up late (11pm) and sleep in (7:30am) i feel like such a rebel

so its raining here in the district which means nap weather-fyi-i WENT to the gym yesterday-give me a few more days and i can safely say i am back on track

i am feeling pretty uninteresting today
kel's and i had the most hilarious conversation last night-my high school 10 year reunion is this summer-WTH!!
not really sure-lots of mixed feelings-i know my mom would say go-it'll be fun, k is like-did we even like that many people in high school-hmmmmm

on to bigger and better things-really looking forward to Reg's wedding-cake cake cake!!!!
oh i mean-the union of him and Mel finally and did i mention CAKE!!!
YES!!! hopefully i get a big slice-i mean HUNK-REG make it happen-being greedy amongst family is completely acceptable, and i am going home next week-OH YEA!! mmmm Dad's food

lots of stuff planned for this year-so i MUST I MUST stay in the gym so that I can continue to eat my way through 2009!!!

i am on a serious Coldstone kick-i mean i was never that into it BUT now let me tell u the AJ special-Sweet Cream and Cake Batter Ice cream mixed with Oreos, fudge, and maybe some caramel! Can you say Mardi gras on the tongue!!
I can't stop-and i dont want to stop-and its technically dairy so that's my milk intake

i must confess i have not been to Hooters lately-i am quite saddened by it-I really miss my cajun wings-they are so flavorful but not spicey and if you get the naked ones you can eat more because they dont have all the batter on them-mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

ok well i hope to have an enjoyable weekend as i hope you all do too
feel freee to call to write etc
