Men

I am no male basher but there are just some things that the older I get the less I understand

So men constantly gripe about women being overly sensitive and overly emotional

But

When it comes down to it..MEN are far worst

Women have to watch what they say because it hurts their feelings…our tones are too harsh…our tones are too indifferent….

Yet somehow they are unable to see that their very SAME behavior affects us too

When we talk less something is wrong yet when pulling words from them is like pulling teeth..that’s just how they are

Women forget something..it’s the END of the world..they forget something and it’s “I’m sorry-I said I’m sorry”

They can forget and yet we are held to another standard…we dare not forget something or we are forced to hear “ I TOLD YOU THAT A MILLION TIMES BEFORE”

As if it’s not a two way street and we haven’t told them stuff a million and a half times

Woman came from Man-per God….so if that is the case…in my theory many of our characteristics are the same with just a twist

So MAYBE it’s because fundamentally humans have the same needs..the need to be loved..the need to be heard..the need to be understood

Men have such tough exteriors but man every man I know…brother..husband…father…friends….they are marshmallows…very gooey inside…and maybe society dictates that they can’t wear their hearts on their sleeves but geez Louise

I think we can learn from each other…if men would listen REALLY listen to what we are saying…women are very expressive and able to convey what they want and need and we need men to listen take note or whatever it takes and apply it

I sometimes think if I were a man..I would try to cheat all day every to learn what women think and what women want….the key to that is…the romance novels..TV shows..and movies that men are so quick to laugh at and look down upon…if I were male..I’d be the first male in there taking notes and seeing what it is that makes women tick

If I were a smart man..I’d read the “cheesy” romance novel because they are written by women describing what they want

Gone are the days of the Keith Sweats the old school R Kelly’s and the other “baby making” music…those songs used to lay it out..it was all and I repeat ALL about the woman and making her happy in all ways….

Maxwell isn’t afraid to express his thoughts/feelings ..and he gets paid to do it and women LOVE him

So what’s the problem with the rest of the gender..isn’t it easier to study and ace your test when it comes to woman 101 versus the constant battle

A happy woman will make you the HAPPIEST man alive…

Just  a few thoughts….

*hopping off the soap box*

Holiday thoughts

So I promised a blog and even though my day got a bit hectic I find that I have a moment to get one done now while my mini me rests for a second (hopefully)

I took her into work for the first time today-now I know my child and I knew it was a gamble
She was a-ok and cute for about ten minutes then things took a turn for the worst as expected and because that was her nap time and she missed it and subsequently has been on a downward spiral ever since

This is the last time I take my baby off her routine
If it means her father and I are anti social with her so be it because when all the folks who want to see her and hold her are back at their respective homes its the momma and daddy who spend the next 4+ hours dealing with ms fussy pants

So back to my blog-as the holiday season is upon us and clearly its my favorite time of the year and not just because of my birthday but mainly the magic of christmas and now as an adult magic is a loose term that you can define how you like
But for me its the crispness in the air-its the laughter and smile-its family-its the festive attitude-its the time of the year to give love and to believe in miracles and the ultimate reason for the season Jesus

This year my heart is in a different place-being a new Mom I have had many moments of great reflections and evaluations of how I am or parts of me hidden and visible
I have looked at the type of person I am and who and what I want to be
I look beyond my perfect world and my newfound love and bliss and my reveling in the joy and miracle of being a parent
But I think this may have been a long year for many
The economy is bad and the world is in need of love and happiness
The holidays can be hard for those away from their family or without family or those that have to choose between buying their kids gifts or putting food on the table
So I want my christmas to be about love and time and not about material objects and trappings
I have everything I want I have everything I need
What I can never have enough of is time with my loved ones
I think everyone should ask themself what is important to me this season
Is it something sparkly or the sparkle in someones eyes
Is it opening a bunch of gifts or opening your hearts
Is it spending a bunch of money you don't have or spending a bunch of time that you do

As I look down at the innocent baby sleeping on my chest..the world is a new place-its shiny it sparkles and as she grows yes she will get gifts but I want her to believe
Believe in the spirit-believe in God-believe in love
Believe in hot cocoa and pajamas and Christmas traditions
Believe in giving more than she takes
Believe its not the number or the size of the gift but the love and intention behind it
I want her to be a humble kind person
*sorry I digressed*
My point was for all of us to take a look at the world around us and take a look at ourselves and in ourselves and make this holiday different

Just a question

As we continue to indulge in juicy tv and programs I just have ONE question..

How many freakin Cat Hoarders are there?
I mean they continue to find cases worst than the last

The preview for the next one shows a lady who is rolling on the floor with all the ish and the cats playing/crawling all over her
I mean.maybe the health department needs to have a tip line and make home visits

book review

So last night I started the book THE HELP..it was gifted to be by my mother and with the recent release of the movie she urged me to read it..there is also some history in that my great aunt and my grandmother were THE HELP...The movie looked entertaining and it looked to touch on a subject that YES i was aware of BUT to the extent of the book NO...

So I began reading it and by last night I was hooked..it is a definite page turner ...I became engrossed at the stories of THE HELP or otherwise the great black mammy (sp) and maid...Ive seen Roots and GONE WITH THE WIND but the surreal part about this book is that the story was not so far removed from reality and from current day standing....

I have always been glad I lived in the North and while I LOVE my southern roots my southern roots don't quite compare to Jackson, Mississippi..there is something about the real DEEP south like Ole Miss and South Carolina that is humbling to me...Up north most people hide their hatred or their deep down beliefs and maybe that makes it ok...whereas down south down in those areas ..areas that still in 2011 are still segregated in many ways and still have separate proms and such...the BLATANT and BOLD hatred scares me and makes me ask WHAT or HOW FAR WILL THEY STILL GO

now do NOT get me wrong or mistake my words I am the first to recognize that while it's easy to point out the hate from the vanilla perspective hate among the chocolate folks runs just as deep
one is no better than the next...
it is sad to watch some of the old movies and read of "how things were" and then to know its STILL that way and not progressing or even to witness first hand racism in 2000s ...well its a sad testament to where we are as a society and how hate can be perpetuated and passed along from generation to generation

kids and babies they dont know hate all they know is play and yet those same kids and babies by the time they are middle school age and actually elementary have become products of their environment and able to repeat the evil and ill words and images they see

is there a solution? i guess be accountable for your family and your kids and if at all possible watch the company you keep..dont condone it...but the bottom line is and not to sound like polly pessimist but i do believe there will always be a certain level of hate and separation....whether its by color, class, has beens or has nots .etc

BUT back to the movie...after reading the book i dont know if i want to see the movie
in the movie there is a lot of smiling..a lot of smiling about a subject that now is near and dear to my heart and a bit of a touchy subject
i have heard accounts that the movie is excellent but gee is this entertainment....some people will walk away and feel like oh that was a MOVIE but the fact that its REAL LIFE and it was the life of my loved ones...it kinda just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth

the fact that there will always be people who hold themselves so far above others or the ignorance that runs rampant .....i am quick to hire people to do services for me...BUT i dont think i ever have treated someone the way they did in the book and the stories..
granted i was raised very differently BUT....

LOVE

When God gives life that is LOVE

There is no greater love than that a parent has for a child

hence why God loves us so much

I look at that face and all is right with the world

when she smiles there is no amount of tiredness in my body

at night when i want her to go back to sleep and she rests her head on my chest...my heart MELTS and i thank God over and over for her

she may smell like milk lol but she is MY baby

Snorers vs smokers

I don't know who entertain me more snorers or smokers....smokers stink but snorers are QUITE funny
There are different types and classes of snorers
I mean I'm surrounded by them
Even my DOG can snore it up and hers is quite obnoxious too-she gets all up in it
My brothers-well 2 out of 3 and I'm sure the 3rd too considering his health issues are SNORERS!
My middle brother snores like a BEAR-its one of those things you can just sit and watch-you want to put water near him and see how much it shakes
Its loud and consistent
Then the other guy-well he is the mouth open-head back belligerent snorer
He is the guy you don't wanna be next to on the plane train or bus! But he is a repeat public offender-he is the guy you wanna stick lint or something in his mouth for laughs-but beware he wakes with a snarl and wrath

Snorers ALWAYS fall asleep first no matter what situation
They act like they don't KNOW they snore and like its annoying like they don't think it grates on your nerves and makes you potentially want to choke them-heheheheh

Sigh!!! But at least they don't stink!
